(43,094 posts)Most Westerners seem to think of it as "What goes aroud comes around" or "As ye sow, so shall you reap." But that isn't karma. It's about what you'll be in your next life based on what you were in your current and/or past ones.

(1,258 posts)Both Buddhism and Hinduism teach karma 'acquired' in this life can flower in this same life.
Of course, karma developed as a mechanism to control the behavior of the mass. So maybe putting stock in it is foolish.

And your first argument doesn't prove it wrong. Your second is sensible, though. People should just stop using it altogether.

(4,584 posts)It's the principle of cause and effect, where a person's actions, thoughts, and intentions determine their future experiences and destiny.
It can happen in this lifetime or it can happen in the future.
That's why I follow the eightfold path.

(405 posts)The assassin should be jailed for life with no parole. We cannot ever condone this.
That said, Kirk made a lot of people very angry with his hateful rhetoric and it is not a surprise that those chickens came home to roost for him.

Though I won't shed a tear for Charlie Kirk, I fear reprisals will take innocent lives.

(55,528 posts)I've learned to pay attention when synchronicity happens. Messages are sent and you are able to notice them.
"A coincidence is a striking but random convergence of events without inherent meaning, whereas synchronicity is a meaningful coincidence where an individual perceives a deeper significance or a connection to the inner state of their psyche."

He literally was asked about mass shootings before being shot. Trying not to answer the question.

His type is nothing but a grifter. Anyone who can argue that 6-year-olds can get their heads shot off in their classrooms so his buddies can play guns is not a serious person. Hes a social media grifter.

(1,007 posts)I did not know who this guy was. Another que that our electronic devices feed us with our political views. We are so divided and we need to understand both sides to be a civil society. I get a lot of info that clearly has a liberal slant. I try to watch FOX, but it is just absolute crap. I don't know if or how to change anything with the current internet companies that have figured out how to program their algorithms to fit our views. They are spoon feeding us division.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
