Newsom and other prominent Democrats on Kirk Killing

'Disgusting, vile, and reprehensible' | Newsom reacts to shooting of Charlie Kirk

The attack on Charlie Kirk is disgusting, vile, and reprehensible. In the United States of America, we must reject political violence in EVERY form," Newsom said on X.

Senator Alex Padilla

"America was founded on the freedom to disagree. Political violence has no place in our democracy. The shooting of Charlie Kirk is reprehensible and sickening. I am praying for him and his family during this time."

Congressman Ro Khanna

"The shooting of Charlie Kirk at a university is chilling & horrific. Political violence has no place in America. We all must reflect on how we can tone down the anger & hate that has poisoned our politics and be better citizens in a divided and aching nation."

Rep. Eric Swalwell

"Political violence is not who we are as Americans. We can NEVER accept this. I hope Mr. Kirk is OK and pray for his family."

It makes sense for prominent Democrats to speak out against this and make the point that political violence is bad.

No harm done if it turns out to be non-political.

The two people who tried to assassinate Trump were both right wingers.

There's a lot of mean violent people out there on the right.

Or what if he stole someones stash of cocaine? Mayhap he owed someone a huge sum on a gambling debt, like a million bucks and Trump wouldn't give him the money to cover it. Or perhaps it was a drug deal gone bad or he pissed off the Mafia?

I agree with the sentiment about political violence having no place in our democracy, and this was a vile act.

It will become interesting if it turns out this person's 'beef' with Kirk is that he lost a child in a school shooting. In fact, that would probably be a best case scenario in terms of the political fallout (that, and he being a white, US citizen).
