2023: About 3,500 children died from firearms.
2022: 2,526 children and teens (ages 1–17) died by a firearm, averaging nearly 7 deaths per day.
2021: 4,752 children died from gun-related injuries. This was a record high at the time.
2020–2022: Almost 10,500 children and teens were killed by gun violence.
2013–2023: Nearly 21,000 children ages 17 and under died from firearms.

Yes, we live in a broken country. This is what Charlie Kirk , a politicsl activist/ media personality had to say

"I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights".

I have no fucks to give that he was shot dead. In fact I'm enjoying the irony.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
