They would just say everything he did and said was positive. That he was “fighting for conservative values”. That would be an easy answer for them.

That help brainwash through massive disinformation millions of young males.

It was great for the GOP and Trump

Obviously GOP policies were bad for us and particularly him in the long run. This is a Tragedy in the classic Shakespearean sense. A figure taken down by his own tragic flaw...

Still, the whole shooting socks. Fuck the shooter. Hope they catch them before they kill again.

Where were your horror and outrage when Melissa Hortman, her husband, and their dog were assassinated in MN?

EDIT: I meant to add I’m completely horrified about Kirk’s murder. I disagree with everything he stood for but no one deserves this horror.

Look at the coverage someone like Mamdani receives. The corporate media is not our friend.

While they were not making him a hero or martyr, they were speaking of how this comes from political anger. Their comments made this into a major event .. more than they did with the obviously political killings in Minnesota.

5 attempts we know of in 13 months to assassinate political figures; 2 successful. I don't think this will stop here, and I don't see this event turning into a learning moment or unifying force unless elected officials get out there tonight in some sort of bi-partisan media theatre event, holding hands or something. Everyone will go to bed tonight just a little more bitter, hardened, validated and entrenched.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
