Following today's highplainsdem post.

I couldn’t embrace any DUers who advocate violence. Call me what you want, chide my peaceful outlook, but violence is not a solution. In the words of Issac Asimov, ‘violence is the last recourse of the incompetent’. I support that statement whole heartedly.

There were a lot of controversial posts in the discussion, many condoning violence as necessary in today’s political arena. I disagree. Hope this answers your question.

WWII and all the people who had to defeat fascism have an important lesson for you. So do those who fought and ended slavery in the US. There are many more such examples.

Violence has been the ONLY answer to state-sponsored violence.

Rejoicing over karma is not the same as advocating violence.

…but I do recognize the truth in Jesus’s saying, “the one who takes up the sword shall die by the sword.”

Charlie Kirk spent a decade spreading a message of hatred and intolerance. And hatred and intolerance caught up with him today. One can condemn all hatred and intolerance while still recognizing that fact.

I had my revenge fantasies for a short time. But most people here do not advocate for violence. If they did, there’d be a lot more people dead. January 6th was appalling for most of us because we’re just normal people, not deplorables. It’s very possible to be anti violence and agree that this man should not have been shot while also understanding the irony of his death.
