"The best way to honor Charlie's memory is to continue his work"

The best way to honor Charlie's memory is to continue his work: engage with each other, across ideology, through spirited discourse. In a democracy, ideas are tested through words and good-faith debate — never through violence.

What exactly types of engagement of ideas should we have with racists, bigots, and sexists? Wouldn't that lostincalifornia Sep 2025 #2
Well, Newsom had Charlie Kirk on his podcast; maybe Newsom heard some things he liked. WhiskeyGrinder Sep 2025 #4

I have no intention of honoring the little Nazi race-baiter. We're supposed to speak good of the dead. He's dead---good.

Newsom is saying Kirk didn’t do any of the things Newsom is noting, knowing who and what Kirk was.

I knew Charlie, and I admired his passion and commitment to debate. His senseless murder is a reminder of how important it is for all of us, across the political spectrum, to foster genuine discourse on issues that deeply affect us all without resorting to political violence.

I think I get what Newsom’s trying to do here, but he certainly could have tailored that message better. Talk and debate across political beliefs? Okay, I guess. But he didn’t mention a word about the trans hatred or the cavalier belief that people getting shot is the cost of upholding the 2nd amendment. Missed. Opportunity.
