Or they quit. Wonder if it will hinder the investigation?

(33,504 posts)In charge of the FBI Salt Lake City office, who was an experienced, well regarded agent with a lot of experience in anti terrorism, was summarily fired from her position three weeks ago. So , yes, all the incompetence on display since the shooting might just be related to lack of experience in the acting agent in charge of that office.

(58,374 posts)Andrew Weissman just pointed out on Lawrence O'Donnell that up until a few weeks ago, the Salt Lake City FBI office was headed by a decorated veteran FBI agent who joined the FBI after 9/11. She was ethnically Pakistani, and a woman. She was unceremoniously fired by Kash Patel without any stated reason, other than stating that she was "no longer a good fit" for the office.
So, the white male now heading the office is new to the job and apparently could not hit the ground running on this shooting investigation. Weissman said it is unheard of for an FBI director to announce not once but twice that a suspect/person of interest was arrested, only to, within a couple hours, announce that the person was released.
Weissman is wondering what was wrong with Kash Patel's FBI info sources. Normally an arrest would never be announced unless the FBI was pretty sure they had their suspect. Here, Patel announced it before the guy was even interrogated, and he did that twice! Totally flailing.

(33,504 posts)on her show, along with a retired FBI agent. They had discussed the fact that this well regarded and experienced woman had been fired three weeks ago, as part of the purge going on through the leadership ranks of the FBI. Her ethnicity wasn't mentioned at the time, but I heard it during Chris Hayes show. At some point while I was watching MSNBC, I do think that a photo of the acting agent who replaced her was put up, and I remember thinking, "of course" , it was a white male. The discussion had centered around whether this change in leadership of that field office would affect the investigation, identification, and pursuit of the shooter to bring him (?) to justice. Ha. Didn't take long for the incompetence to show, did it? I love me some irony in the morning.
