About the drones over Poland . . . .

It seems to me they were intentional so as to test MATO's response. Will Article 5 be invoked? Will the US act in lockstep with the rest of NATO?

4. Article 4:

“The Parties will consult together whenever, in the opinion of any of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of any of the Parties is threatened.”

Poland is signaling to NATO members that its independence and security is once again being threatened by Russia's violations of its air space. This requires all members to respond jointly to Poiand's concerns.

Russia and Belarus were doing their annual jointexercise, and one of the scenarios is always an attack of or from NATO.
This time, Putin put a toe in the water to see what was possible going in for real. Poland used to be a client buffer state between the Soviet and the West, Putin wants it back, just as he wants a clear passage to Kaleningrad.
He's desperate to look strong.
