In a way, it reminds me of the assassination of Alan Berg, liberal radio broadcaster who was murdered back in the "80's. He was killed by white supremacists. Berg was Jewish.
I would not be surprised if Kirk was killed for similar reasons. Perhaps they hoped to start a race war?
It's a stretch of a conspiracy theory to say that Kirk was starting to push for the public exposure of all the Epstein files and the Trump regime did not need that publicity at this time from one of their own.
It's possible that he had some personal enemies that we don't know about? Perhaps he made enemies with some of the hateful and bigoted stuff that he talked about?
I certainly do not see enough liberal interest in him for it to be any type of Democratic Party conspiracy.

Although he did say a while back that he was not going to talk about it anymore. But, he believed he could say anything in the name of free speech.

(54,866 posts)Kirk was a somewhat unique vote-producing machine (with the youth vote especially) for Trump and the Rethugs. It makes no sense for them to kill off the golden egg-laying goose.

(115,622 posts)However, he had already made known his position that the Epstein files should all be made public, before he agreed to Trump's request to not talk about it anymore. His position was already known by his listeners.

(2,062 posts)It only takes one person who convinces themselves to go too far, and the more people who hate someone, the more number of people there are who would be in that mental state.
The Silent Brotherhood who killed Alan Berg were on the opposite side of him and killed him for being a liberal Jew. So your own example tends towards it being a liberal person. And Berg had a lot of the same shtick as Kirk in terms of being deliberately provocative of people he disagreed with to the point the racists who killed him drove hundreds of miles to do so. You can say that there wasn't enough liberal interest in him, but one of his big things was going to college campuses and debating with random students so maybe you just weren't as aware of him. Look at how many people were gathered there as part of his student debates.

(132 posts)But several here think Russia did it for some reason so convoluted you need a graphing calculator to figure it out. Or Trump ordered a hit to cover up some Epstein evidence that Kirk, and only Kirk, had. I'm sure there's many more whacky theories, but the obvious answer is someone from the left murdered him.
There's a lot of us out there and it only takes one lunatic to do something like this.

The obvious answer is that we do not know.

(6,439 posts)Kirk was just a talker. Getting rid of a talker is like getting rid of a drug dealer, one goes and three others pop up. So for someone on the left to get rid of Kirk, it would be like playing wack-a-mole. But MAGAs can play this thing out. They can stir people up. And we'll never get the complete truth from this DOJ. Just remember everything they tell us about this case is probably a lie.
Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
