"It's time for a debate on what kind of country we are."
I had to spit my drink of water at the TV. Hey, Li'l Mikey, WHY the HELL wasn't it time for that debate after Sandy Hook--Parkland--Uvalde--Las Vegas--and a hundred OTHER Mass slaughters with guns???? But you and your fellow right-wing Nazis and gunhumpers kept telling us "this is not the time..." WTF made an ass like Charlie Kirk so special that it's now time???

(35,000 posts)He's finally seeing that right-wing Nazis and gun-humpers can be targets, as well as perpetrators. I'm sure he felt safe from the violence up until now.

I just read something today for the first time. Just imagine how their parents must have felt when Kirk's death dominated the news.

(53,550 posts)Meanwhile, the Kirk shooting certainly was big news, but how much can you say about one incident every hour all day long? When there is new information, certainly it should be reported, but repeating the same things over and over again is not responsible news coverage. There are other stories that still need to be covered.

(1,048 posts)because they didn't come to kill him, they came to kill the former speaker, Nancy Pelosi, and VP Mike Pence. It's a perfect representation of Wilhoit's Law.
"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."

(4,745 posts)You think all those republicans scurrying for their lives felt safe that day? No. They didn't. They weren't hiding because Capitol Police told them to. If you remember ANY of the news from that day, they ALL feared for their lives. No one knew in real time what "the plan" was.
But to conform to your sensibilities, I'll reword here to "...Remember when you cowered in fear for your life from Club Kirk?" Better?

(1,048 posts)Interesting. I've often wondered what would have happened if some "friendly fire" had happened that day, something that couldn't be blamed on the other guys (a la Ashli Babbitt). Would there have been a come-together moment to destroy the MAGA narrative?
