PHNX Sports Suns writer Gerald Bourguet fired after Charlie Kirk posts

PHNX Sports has fired Phoenix Suns reporter Gerald Bourguet over comments he made about conservative activist Charlie Kirk's death on social media.

The company announced the firing on social media, writing on X: "The opinions expressed by our employees do not represent the views of PHNX or ALLCITY Network. We take matters involving violence very seriously and are committed to ensuring that ALLCITY remains a safe place for our employees and community alike. We have addressed this matter with the individual and made the decision to part ways."

Bourguet, a popular beat reporter for the NBA team, incited anger on social media in the aftermath of Kirk's death with several posts.

He posted: "'Political differences' are not the same thing as spewing hateful rhetoric on a daily basis, and refusing to mourn a life devoted to that cause is not the same thing as celebrating gun violence. Just so we're 100% clear on that."

… is here and the corporation are on board with it.

What part of that is not true.

For a newspaper, a reporter deviating from Journalistic Objectivity risks alienating Conservatives. He should have just offered Tots & Pears, or better, "stay in his lane" and STFU.

He's a Sports Reporter and Sports is the place where local newpapers zealously guard neutrality - no politics. They don't want reading their paper or rooting for a team to become politically partisan.

Of course, it is anyway, with Liberals watching MLS & the WNBA while Cons demean both those leagues.
