Reminder: ACAB means feds, civilian investigators, prosecutors, everyone in the process, not just pedantically municipal police officers.

(8,180 posts)CNN should also have known better. I expect this level of nonsense from the WSJ, but we still have to accept them as a source. The various posters who were spreading this (rather gleefully) yesterday should apologize to the board.

(132,499 posts)ago, back in the last millenium. I was wearing an ankh, and this young man came up to me, all outraged, demanding that I get rid of the "satanic" symbol. I pointed out that it was an Egyptian symbol for eternal life, and had been in existence far longer than the christian satan. He said, "I know it's satanic, I learned it on tv!" Being me, I looked at him, and laughed, and said, "Pee Wee Herman (TOLD you it was a long time ago!!!) is also on tv. Do you believe he is real?" As he slunk off, he sneeered, "Sorry I upset you." I replied, "Oh honey, you are far too stupid and gullible to upset me." Poor, confused little idiot.

(132,499 posts)the ceo supposedly went on Phil Donahue's afternoon talk show and announced that he worshiped Satan, and that all P & G profits supported Satanic efforts. Such an episode did not exist, of course.

(106,225 posts)The Devil is not in league with global consumer brand Procter & Gamble, a US court has ruled.
P&G won a $19m (£9.7m) lawsuit against four distributors of rival Amway over rumours tying it to Satanism.
The court concluded a 12-year lawsuit in P&G's favour, after it ruled that the four had spread a false accusation that P&G subsidised Satanic cults.
The case is one of several unfair competition suits P&G has brought refuting the Satanism slurs.

If something looks unbelievably stupid, then there's probably something more to it, and profit is most likely.

(8,180 posts)had a space invader tile mistaken for a terrorist symbol (for some reason). Both the police and the journalists who spout their nonsense need to be better trained and we need a closer selection process because many of them seem to be idiots.

(8,180 posts)They wanted to get their ideological story out there, and they did.
It satisfied their frothing masses, including some trolls close to home (ahem), but was always likely to be bullshit, and sounded trolly and implausible. How does one engrave antifascist ideology on a bullet? The whole thing was ludicrous.

(17,110 posts)Is this just this particular poster's hypothesis, or is there more? The images he included, other than the top left one, come from sources unrelated to the shooting. Apparently he's just using them as examples of different headstamps.
I believe this is where the photo in the lower right came from(ca. 2023):

The bits about about the Canadian & UK headstamps are on the Wikipedia page on military headstamps:

(69,370 posts)There's no evidence whatsoever that bullet casings supposedly found at the scene have "pro-trans and anti-fascist" words on them. Nobody in authority has released any photos or any evidence for this whatsoever.
Despite the lack evidence, the news media ran with this story.
Somebody on the internet is pointing out that bullets have manufacturers symbols. Maybe that's the source of the story. Or maybe it's all just a made up lie.
What would a "pro transgender and anti-fascist ideology" symbol look like to you? I am at a loss. I don't think there's any such thing.
sl8
(17,110 posts)I don't believe unsubstantiated reports that there *were* transgender symbols found on the cases and I don't believe unsubstantiated reports about how those reports got started.
Maybe this twitter poster is just posting a hypothesis. That's fine, I've heard worse. Could even be true. But from the tone, it sounds like they're stating a fact and many of the thread replies seem to accept it as fact.
As far as what those hypothetical transgender symbols look like "to me", I have no fucking clue. If you've gotten the impression that I believe those initial reports, then you are mistaken.
On edit:
As far as the sources I provided in my post, I added those later, after reading some replies that seemed to think that they were from this case, rather than unrelated examples found on the internet.
