About that video of CK shooter climbing off roof -

- where's the rifle. One of the persons at the briefing indicated that he climbed down, walked about twenty yards, crossed a street, then headed off for the wooded area where the FBI found the suspected weapon - while the video clearly shows him with no rifle in hand. Did he toss it into the wooded area from the opposite side of the building before climbing down? An incredible feat of strength and precision! Or was this individual a spotter for the actual shooter?

He initially ran from the building but soon slowed down to a walk before waiting to cross the street. Didn't seem like he was in any hurry to get away. Was he just trying to appear "normal" and not bring attention to himself?

I saw it looked like he had something in his hand that could have been a rifle broken down and covered with a blanket. You can see it as he jumps off the roof.

with the gun. I guess to break the gun down. And nobody seems to mention that if we had tighter gun control the number on the gun would probably have led to the shooter's name by now.

He flees immediately after the shooting. He fired one shot, then broke down the older model Mauser with a screwdriver, then ran across the roof with the broken down rifle under a blanket or in the backpack?

This is the sequence? He fires one shot, then takes the time to break down the rifle, then runs away?

Also it seems a little silly to even take the rifle off the roof at all. Surely he could not believed that stashing it in bushes a very short distance from the school was going to result in it never being found. Plus every second you are in possession of the weapon increases the chances you are identified, and perhaps shot. It also slows down your escape. In these circumstance leaving it where you fired from is the best play.

So at best all that is really at stake here is the possibility that the FBI has misinformed us WRT where the rifle was actually found, which they're not obligated to be truthful about anyway, esp. not with the shooter still at large

But another simple explanation is that they are an amateur, like not using gloves.

Taking it off the roof has the advantage that it delays discovery of the weapon and the clues it will inevitably contain.

"they tossed it off out of sight of the video."

The video shows the gunman running from the shooting site, immediately climbing down from the roof and then departing from the area. The gun was found in woods between the campus and the adjoining neighborhood, in the direction in which the roof jumper was fleeing. The gun would have had to have been with him 1) as he jumped and 2) as he fled toward the weapon dump site.

What do you mean "they tossed it off out of sight of the video?" The video captures the whole sequence of his departure.

What's the fuss? It seems pretty clear to me he has something long with him as he gets to the edge of the roof. He puts it down, still holding it as he backs around to get his feet over the edge. Still holding it he falls. As he walks away he is still holding it.

Yes, I think everyone sees the thing you're seeing now that you've actually watched the video. It's that some people don't really see what he's carrying as a rifle. Now, you do see it as a rifle, and obviously so. That's great. Your "Yeah it is!" response is now recorded.
