Melissa Hortman and John Hoffman were both shot

Last edited Fri Sep 12, 2025, 08:21 AM - Edit history (1)

on the same night. Both were Minnesota Democrats and elected officials who were targeted for political assassination. Hortman was killed. Compare the coverage her murder got to the coverage Charlie Kirk’s murder is getting. Then try to explain how the corporate corporate media is not completely biased to the right.

Democrats should shut up already. it is not a foregone conclusion - until they've arrested the perpetrator and figured out just why he did it - that it was committed by someone on the left, or that it was even political.

maybe it was a personal vendetta. maybe the guy was infatuated with him. maybe he cheated on his wife with someone else's wife. maybe stephen miller felt threatened by him.

this is propaganda. we're drowning, drowning in it. i do not recognize my country.

considering some of his own rhetoric and dick Cheney's-- 2001 to 2008 they were practically rabid.

Vance and T steal piece after piece of our government and traditions. It this is true we have already lost the battle. I hope you are wrong about this. MTG wants a statue of the guy put in the Capitol building. What simple madness. We may as well take women, gays, trans and minorities out, line them up and do away with them. It certainly would save on the slow, fear filled future of nothing but threats, madness and degradation!

Michigan governor was also a target by a bunch of right wingers.

But the Minnesota attack you mention especially should have got more coverage.

instead it was reported like a local gun robbery .

Nothing like as damning of the RW/MAGA agenda & their calls for violence against their political "enemies." No listing of all the other victims of RW/MAGA. No mention of the J6 criminals & their violent crimes, nor of the pResident pardoning them.

Dems & Democratic supporters need to get that message out *now* to counter the narrative being sold hard by the MAGAts & media that all Democrats are to blame & must pay for Kirk's killing.

24. Based on my research, I found only 1 sitting Republican Government official assassinated in the past 35+ years
Fri Sep 12, 2025, 10:17 AM
Sep 2025

That was a Borough Council Member in NJ. Eunice Dwumfour, a member of the borough council of Sayreville, New Jersey, was assassinated on February 1, 2023. The murderer was Rashid Ali Bynum, a resident of Portsmouth, Virginia, who was a former resident of Sayreville and had been a member of the Fire Congress Fellowship, a religious organization with offices near Sayreville that Dwumfour helped to lead. The murder seemed to revolve around the religious organization they were both members of.

During that same time frame, at least 5 sitting Democratic Government Officials have been assassinated.

Melissa Hortman, Member of the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2025
James E. Davis, New York City Councilman in 2003
J. Christopher Stevens, Ambassador to Libya in 2012
Clementa C. Pinckney, Member of the South Carolina Senate in 2015
Bill Gwatney, Chair of the Democratic Party of Arkansas, Former member of the Arkansas Senate in 2008

In the 1960's there were 5 major political assassinations. All those assassinated were on the left side of the political spectrum: John F. Kennedy, Malcom X., Martin Luther King, Jr., Robert F. Kennedy & Medger Evers.

Recent history as well longer term shows Democrats & the "Left" have been far more likely to be killed by political violence than Republicans.

Weren't. Kirk means rating from people that usually don't watch the news. Kirk was more like John Lennon being shot. He was a generational icon, loved or hated, by the TicToc generation. Those under 30 probably know who he is better than who Bill Clinton was.

More and more honest coverage of Melissa Hortman's assassination was also justified, but not provided. The coverage of that hers and the related deaths was tepid and nothing like as damning of the RW/MAGA agenda & their calls for violence against their political "enemies" as it should have been.

No widespread, passionate listing of all the other recent victims of RW/MAGA attacks. No harping on the J6 criminals & their violent crimes, nor of the pResident pardoning them.

Dems & Democratic supporters need to get that message out *now* to counter the narrative being sold hard by the MAGAts & media that all Democrats are to blame & must pay for Kirk's killing. With Mad King Donald's rule, we may suffer official government sanctioned or government-carried-out punishment.
