and many other well-known individuals whose stalkers were thwarted before violent acts could happen -- they were all victims/potential victims of their own deranged fans.

Charlie Kirk also was a celebrity. There's a long history of obsessed fans seeking to do harm to the object of their obsession. Usually, it's just an imaginary "slight" that sets off a stalker's decision to seek a violent solution (e.g. Rebecca Schaefer's murderer believed that she was being unfaithful to him because she appeared in a love scene in a movie).

Kirk's ideology was awful, but the intensity of his narratives was a bit inconsistent. Maybe an obsessed fan became frustrated with the "messaging?"

With that shooter in PA. WHEN IT HAPPENED I thought of the John Lennon stalking fan murderer for some reason, and that was pretty much spot on.

Right wing celebrity culture from the top down fans the fires of grievance as well. No pun intended.

That the shooter was in the Nick Fuentes faction of the alt-right. So, great. Now they're going to go after liberals when it's the White Nationalist version of Biggie vs. Tupac.

4. No, that is a different classification of killer called "erotomania"

Those types often begin with a courtship period where the eventual killer actually comes to believe they are friends of the celebrity. They often send gifts, show up uninvited at the celebrity's house, obsessively attend performances, etc... Then they feel betrayed when the relationship that doesn't actually exist seems to go bad, usually because the celebrity's security crew alerts authorities or tells the killer outright to leave the celebrity alone. It is a very interesting phenomenon. I think it would be harder to develop that kind of dangerous, obsessive relationship nowadays because access is so much harder than it was in the 70s and 80s, and erotomaniac type individuals are better understood (i.e., and how to deter and deal with them). But it's a good question.

During the courtship phase the individual will often have posters, memorabilia all over the place. It sounds like Robinson had negative views about Kirk almost exclusively. Unless we learn more--that he idolized Kirk before forming an aversion, it seems for now like he has nothing in common with obsessive/paranoid fans-turned-killers.
