California lawmakers just passed SB 627, the No Secret Police Act, which would make it illegal for law enforcement to hide their identities while on duty in the state.

(11,550 posts)This might be the thing that starts it all. Once they arrive in California, and the local administration moves to arrest them for breaking the law, the feds will be sending in the main troops as soon as they can con their leaders to do so.
Personally, I doubt that anything will come of it. Because if something does come of it, I doubt the country is ready for what will follow. (We could have been, but that ship has sailed.)

(5,932 posts)It showed a slightly different coloration along a portion of one of the fins. He called the NASA facility that handled that series of launches.
At first they didn't realize what he was talking about, but the more he explained the more they caught on. They told him that on that launch there was a minor problem and they used some tape to make a quick repair. He said, "Oh, you mean like duck tape"" and they replied, 'Around here we call that stuff rocket tape.'

(5,252 posts)which blew my mind, as I had believed as you do about it....
Google A.I says
"Duck tape" came first, as the tape was originally called that because its backing was made from cotton "duck" cloth and was waterproof like a duck's feathers. Later, as the tape became widely used for sealing HVAC ducts, the name evolved to "duct tape," though this was a misuse of the product's original purpose.
Here's a breakdown of the history:
1. Early Invention (WWII):
The tape was invented by the Permacel division of Johnson & Johnson for military use during World War II.
2. Military Use:
Soldiers used it as a waterproof tape to seal ammunition cases and for various other repairs. They called it "duck tape" because of its backing made from duck cloth, a sturdy cotton canvas.
3. Post-War Shift:
After the war, the housing industry boomed, and construction workers began using the tape to seal metal ventilation ducts. This practical, common use led to the name "duct tape".
4. Modern Context:
The name "duct tape" is now the common generic term. However, the brand name "Duck Tape" still exists, and the association with the original duck cloth backing is often confused with the misuse of the tape on HVAC ducts. In fact, modern duct tape is often unsuitable for sealing actual ducts, as it can degrade at high temperatures.

Constitutionally, there are only 2 reasons that we are allowed to wear masks
1) Emergency measures during a community medical situation like a pandemic
2) For religious purposes.
There are questions on 1st amendment grounds in terms of protesting, but
we are NOT allowed to wear masks to hide our identities.
One last note, about facial recognition; When you go through TSA and TSA asks you to stand so they can take a picture, you can just say "No thank you, I want to opt out". It is not mandatory.
These photos are designed for the government to have your photo on their DB, for facial identification technology.
Forget the fact they already have our images from Drivers licenses, State ID's or Passports, which we just handed one of these documents with our ticket to get to our flight gate, why do they need to take a picture?
Is it some new photo technology that is able to calculate facial contours?

(1,312 posts)They'll just wear helmets. And what local law enforcement officer is going to attempt to arrest a federal law enforcement officer and be brought up on charges of obstructing a federal investigation?

(8,710 posts)Then let's see what happens when they try...it's a violation of federal law to interfere with immigration enforcement.
Greg_In_SF
(1,312 posts)It's fact.
The only way a local law enforcement officer could arrest a federal law enforcement officer is if they are breaking local law "outside the scope of their federal duties". Arresting a federal officer performing his lawful duties is a felony.
You may not like it but it is fact, and it has always been this way.

(6,956 posts)Had lead or steel bars taped to the front axle to prevent wheelstands Garlits broke 200 moh in 1964. So it waa called two hundred mile an hour tape. It was replaced with aluminum brackets bolted on because the tape was considered unsafe. I dont think they had a problem unless there was an accident. Which would possibly become a speeding projectile. Metal brackets were much safer. And dont get me started about clutch explosions when slipping clutches prevented smoking the tires the entire quarter mile. Slipping clutches transmitted more power to the track, but in the early stages of development they could explode and cut the car in half. This happened to jim nicoll when he narrowly lost to don prudhomme at the 1969 u.s. nationals right at the finish line. The front part of the car sped in front of prudhomme as he was decellerating with the aid of a parachute and the car , only from the engine forward, skidded in front of him. Prudhomme thought nicoll had died and nearly crying., said he was quitting. A few other drivers did die from clutch explosions, which also sent pieces into the grandstands injuring spectators.
And dont get me started about parachute failures, which still happens in the present.
Sorry, I like to write and my writing these days mostly ends up on internet message boards.
