It'd be nice if people would stop saying that Kirk was killed for having the guts to have a different opinion. A difference of opinion is when you like the Stones and I like the Beatles. Obviously no one is getting killed over this disagreement, especially if they're adamant but still polite about it. That is not what is happening here.
I've seen his schtick. Kirk dealt in logical fallacies and bad faith arguments. His trick was to speak in half truths and talk over people. Kirk was the worst of what I call " Bro' " culture. He told a woman to her face that being a partner in a law firm wasn't near as monumental an achievement as having a quiver full of kids, yet he would lie and say that an equitable society eschews those women who choose to pursue traditional gender roles. He's a predecessor to the men in Margaret Atwood's universe. He was proof of their end game.
It's sad that violence is our stock and trade. No good can come of this tragedy. All that happened is that a very dangerous and undeserving man will be martyred and rebranded as some kind of patriotic saint. We don't need his ideas and opinions to become the new standard.

(55,840 posts)Logic and facts don't work too well. But if it can be shown they are being taken for stooges, some of them might wake up.
Think hard on this. To me this is the essence of strategy going forward.

(6,484 posts)I believe some people recognize reality when the circumstances affect them directly, which is why the Medicaid cuts are scheduled for after the midterms. But most refuse to see the truth, even when the reality devastates their world. Remember - it is always Biden's fault, right now.
Yes, I have tried logic and facts. "They" are conditioned to tune it out and offer all kinds of nonsense counter narratives. They are sheltered behind cognitive dissonance and confirmation bias.
I ponder ways to get them to feel compelled to find out more. I have an idea about billboards that have a compelling and "catchy" fact w/ a website to find out more info. The psychology of how to grab their attention is tricky.
And here is a whacky idea I had. The grifter was at a recent sporting event. I wondered if anonymous could hack the jumbotron and broadcast something that would be a smoking gun - something along the lines of Epstein "tapes". It would become news beyond the sports stadium. Anonymous are you listening?
What will it take to to get past the brainwashing?

(69,647 posts)His opinions are shared by millions. The president of the United States promotes Kirk's opinions. The MSM soft-pedals his opinions. It's not like he's some lonely hermit crying in the wilderness.
Kirk was a lot of things but one thing he was not was courageous.

(2,088 posts)Men like him keep saying things like Feminists hate stay at home moms and liberals attack them, too.
I have never in my life seen that. Purely made-up shit. Feminists want equality and the choice of lifestyle is up to the woman. Not her husband, her minister or her government.
Yet there are vast numbers of men and women and churches and politicians and special groups like MRA's who spend lots of time and effort HATING Feminists and women who have careers.
Why are these men so afraid of women?
