The latest COVID vaccines are readily available in So. Cal. Scheduled and received it same day. I self attested to the fact that I was in the higher risk category that qualifies for the COVID-19 booster and that is all that was required.

(60,437 posts)So I got the one that was the previous version. This was in late August. They said don't get another one for two months, so that means late October for me. I won't be back in the States before the end of the year. No trip is planned, anyway. The newest booster should be available here in the Rheinland long before then.

(12,597 posts)I tried to sign up for the vax at my local DE CVS, (Wilmington zip code) but was getting nowhere quick. Not sure if their supply isn't yet adequate or what. But 4 miles down the road, the CVS had the vax and we made an appointment yesterday.
We received the new Covid shot and the flu vax.
We do this for our grand baby who's immunocompromised. Don't want to take a chance of dragging in an ugly infection while visiting.
We're both retired, so there were no hiccups in getting the shot. We both have a mild Covid arm today but nothing else.

(55,527 posts)One week ago tried to get an appointment and I didn't qualify, not 65 and not a child or severely at risk. I called my Prim Care doctor to see if he could give me an Rx for it bit he said he couldn't since the CDC was not issuing any clear guidance. The entire medical community has no clear direction due to Kennedy.
So, this week, when I was preparing for my 32 needles of Botox into my scalp, neck, etc for daily migraines, I gave CVS another go and this time I was able to get an appointment so I made one for that day (may as well get needles all at once).
Why did this change from one week to the next?!? The CDC is so fucked up!!!!!!!!!
I really do believe the tRump admin wants to bankrupt us and then kill us in that order.
Oh, by the way, if the ACA tax credits are killed in 2026 my Botox for migraines will cost me 75% of my income after taxes in CA! The ACA will additionally cost me $1,200 per month which is 33% of my income.

In the last year I have really made some changes in my diet and exercise that are starting to pay off for me. All it is , is common sense diet stuff and walking. I am going to add a portable EVO gym to use one or two days a week. But currently I am only walking for exercise about 8000 steps a day (4-5 miles) 1 hour total time. I break it up in two or three smaller walks. There are a some inspirational posts I follow on substack for additional motivation. Thats what is working for me.

(55,527 posts)Without Botox I will vomit, hallucinate, and have incredible pain all over the inside my head for 4 days and nights. Even the hair on my forehead hurt.
Believe me, I tried everything for 1 year and was suicidal it was so bad. When I mentioned my pain at a breast exam screening a woman told me about Botox and I had to jump through 1,000 hoops to get it since Botox is associated with wrinkles. It really did save my life. Until you experience this you have no idea what pain is. I watched videos of natural childbirth so I would be in good company (really).
