JEFF SHARLET: Yes, he was a young guy. He decided to drop out of college. I think a lot of people make a lot of that, and he couldn’t even go to college. What the guy could do was organize and charm rich, old white men and raise money. And he did it. And he grew and grew it, and then took a turn toward Christian nationalism. It had originally been largely secular. It had originally been somewhat indifferent to or agnostic on LGBTQ+ rights. But he would see the moment. He was very good at — like his, you know, his hero, Trump — at sort of tacking ever rightward, wherever the current would take him. He built it to this behemoth that has chapters on hundreds and hundreds of college campuses.

I think it’s worth noting, because you’re seeing some people saying, “Well, you know, I disagree with what he said, but he was a champion of free speech. He died debating.” Look, the fact that he was murdered doesn’t change the fact that he also — he was an opponent of free speech. There’s no other way to cut it, for a man who created something called Professor Watchlist, School Board Watchlist, to name and frighten people from teaching, who advocated restrictions on what school teachers could teach, who called for — and there’s a clip you can see online — who called for the televised public executions, and he had a pretty broad category in mind. But what was really chilling was he wanted this to be required viewing for children. And you can look at this clip, and you can see his colleagues. They’re sort of trolling, but Kirk, again and again, pulls it back to seriousness, and he says, “No, no, no, this isn’t a joke. This has to be a holy experience, a teaching experience for children, watching enemies be killed.” That is not a champion of free speech.

10. I think, for the sake of our country and the sake of our society,

we're going to have to rethink this "free speech" thing, just as much as we have to rethink the 2nd amendment. There are some things that, taken a certain direction, tear down instead of build up. I would never have said such a thing some 20 years or more ago. But I see the damage that murdoch and his ilk has caused, and the lack of freedom of speech on the part of anyone opposing magas, and I see our teachable moment.

You can't yell fire in a crowded theater.
You can't commit libel and slander.
We need to give libel and slander laws more teeth--carefully because those can also be used against us--but Fox just shouldn't get away with what it does.

The core value of Freedom of Speech needs to remain protected.

Perhaps threats and stoccastic terrorism need to be addressed as part of this or separately.
Social Media needs to be regulated like book publication are--or at least used to be. I'm not sure whether that was by law or whether there were just better journalistic standards in the past. But the whole world of Social Media is like the Wild West and we haven't caught up to the implications of it or even prevented foreign powers from jumping into the fray.

I have been saying this for years. I favor the German's view of speech rights and think we should pass strong laws on hate speech. They did right by outlawing the Nazi party, propaganda and Nazi symbols.

The allies helped make these changes and we should have done the same in our country.

We are experiencing the biggest weakness of democracies now with the pedo prez destroying our rights and a FauxNews host, Brian Kilmeade casually advocating an American holocaust, arresting and giving "involuntary lethal injections, just kill them!" to the homeless!

Please write or call FauxNews to object to this in the strongest possible terms. Brian Kilmeade should be fired and blacklisted. This man is dangerous and a disgrace! And, co-host Lawrence Jones should be sanctioned.

even before kings and such get involved. Most of the sacrificial rituals maintained the priest caste.
