Great Raw Story Op/Ed: We can condemn political violence and this foul murder but still call out peddlers of hate

The major sticking point in all of this Kirk-a-Palooza crap we've waded though in the last week, for me, has been:

1). I NEVER "celebrate" or "advocate" murder for ANY REASON, and

2). Kirk was a walking, talking hate machine. He had a form of "charisma" that appealed to angry, hate-filled MAGAts...especially younger ones...but for me, there was NOTHING "admirable" or "noble" about his message / mission, and his death has changed NONE OF THAT for me. He manipulated ignorant and gullible people for fame and fortune and a bullet ended his ride.

It's very similar to Trump's "charisma," but Kirk's appeal was more to younger angry, hate-filled Magats. I imagine Charlie Kirk was being groomed for national office to succeed Trump as the next MAGA messiah of hate. It explains their massive overreaction; they feel cheated by the loss of their future leader.

4. An article I did not post here (nor do I intend to)...

...it was Kirk's wife talking about what he would have done once elected president, and a quote from Trump saying he would have easily won if he ran.

He absolutely was being groomed.

Being President, even if they were jagoffs like their dad, would be "too much work" for Don Jr. or Ivanka. Word is that Trump won't "endorse" Vance for 2028 because he wants his "legacy" to continue. Eric's the adult who is probably still eating grade school paste and writing "Eric Rocks" on the walls with his own poop. Although he did recently say that he "hasn't ruled out" a run.

If the MAGAts are going to "groom" an heir to the throne, it WILL be someone like Kirk.

5. I paid no attention

to him until after his death. After he died I listened to several excerpts of him talking about various subjects. I came away with the opinion that he was what I would call a "contrarian". I doubt he believed 100% of the bullshit he said. I think he said much of it for fame and fortune and to get attention with his audience of weak minded fools who wanted to believe the crap he was spewing. If you said the sky was blue he would say "No, its not, that's caused by some leftist conspiracy, its really not blue at all." Not a great example but you get the idea. I've met people like this over the years and they always have some opinion that goes against common sense and obvious evidence.

He won't be missed. Unfortunately others will come along to fill the gap his death has left who will hoover up the Magat suckers attention and money.

6. I live in a very small red town.

I knew a guy who was true "salt of the earth." He was actually a Baptist Pastor in a local church, retired now, presumably moved away. I would run into him somewhat often in the local supermarket.

ANYWAY...

...the guy was very kind to me, well-spoken, articulate, and during the height of COVID, he said he "didn't believe in it," it was "all made up."

So there are not always "absolutes" out there. The flip side is that I've also known some GENIUNELY TOXIC people, meaning once you get past the red hat, the remaining content of their character is even more toxic. I don't care about them one way or another. The ones who sadden me are the ones who are basically decent people who made the mistake of listening to, and believing, people who are not decent at all.

7. I can't empathise

With his worshippers.

I think Krasnov will die a natural death in the near future.

I will be dancing in the streets when that demon dies. No amount of freedom of speech being squashed by The Powers That Be will stop that joy.

There will be people at DU who say "we are better than that."

Who is this WE of which you speak. Me. It's my right to express myself.

I feel like people are complying in advance. My 'feelings' matter too.
