I learned about this while away and my first thought was the right orchestrated this so they can twist it into an excuse to put the hammer down on any opposition. I figure at some point they'll start rounding up anyone they want, declare them mental or traitor or whatever and disappear them. It's what they wanted during the first term and had too much opposition from the Pentagon. Now there's nothing to stop them. They just need an excuse to "sell it" to the faithful.

New facts are out now which makes it doubtful they actually sacrificed Kirk, but my opinion has not changed on the MAGA leadership end goal for this. I believe every effort will be made to use this as an opportunity to squash any and everyone they don't like for any reason whatsoever.
