London: King Charles will give Donald Trump a rare honour when the US president arrives in Britain for a state visit that is tipped to bring billions of dollars in American investment, with billionaires joining a formal dinner at Windsor Castle.
Trump will become the only American president to be honoured with two state visits to the UK when he lands on Tuesday, treating him to high ceremony including a short journey with the King in a horse-drawn carriage before a state dinner.
With the media broadcasting every move, the carriage procession will be one of the high points of the visit, as Trump and his wife, Melania, join King Charles and Queen Camilla as well as Prince William and Princess Catherine.
Given security concerns over the visit, however, the carriage procession will be kept to the Windsor estate, and the route will be lined with members of the armed forces a contrast with the procession through the Windsor streets in front of civilian crowds when French President Emmanuel Macron came for a state visit in July.

Now, before going ballistic and accusing Charles of being a closet magat, ask yourself, "Is King Charles III likely to be intimidated by fucking Donald J Trump? Nah, didn't think so.
I think we will witness the most exquiste show of soft diplomacy in modern history. Chas will have Donny eating out of his hand. He's had a long time to consider what his legacy to the world will be; maybe this is it.

(7,894 posts)Im not sure if they are concerned about protestors lining the route or (what IMO would me even more poignant) nobody showing up for the procession. Either way, Trump wont get what he most want : Attention from a crowd.

(11,030 posts) Max Blumenthal just told Tim Dillon that Donald Trump fears for his life specifically because of Israel, and that during one of Netanyahu's visits this year, Secret Service discovered "electronic devices" in their emergency response vehicles placed by Israeli agents.
Max said he was told this by someone very close to Trump.

(7,894 posts)But I believe Trump fears for his life, especially outside of MAGAland. Between his dementia, his fear of what might happen if the Epstein files contain something more than we know so far, and his traveling away from his base, it makes sense that he is shaking.
