White House Plans Broad Crackdown on Liberal Groups

Trump administration officials on Monday responded to the activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination by threatening to bring the weight of the federal government down on what they alleged was a left-wing network that funds and incites violence, seizing on the killing to make broad and unsubstantiated claims about their political opponents.

Investigators were still working to identify a motive in Mr. Kirk’s killing, but the Republican governor of Utah, Spencer Cox, has said that the suspect had a “leftist ideology” and that he acted alone.

The White House and President Trump’s allies suggested that he was part of a coordinated movement that was fomenting violence against conservatives — without presenting evidence that such a network existed. America has seen a wave of violence across the political spectrum, targeting Democrats and Republicans.

On Monday, two senior administration officials, who spoke anonymously to describe the internal planning, said that cabinet secretaries and federal department heads were working to identify organizations that funded or supported violence against conservatives. The goal, they said, was to categorize left-wing activity that led to violence as domestic terrorism, an escalation that critics said could lay the groundwork for crushing anti-conservative dissent more broadly.

Any gun legislation is one small step towards the same boxcars that were a part of Nazi Germany.

They've just tipped their hands with this idea that the 2nd Amendment should not apply to Transgendered Americans... that's big. Yes, even the NRA came out in opposition but this is the same NRA that blinked when the Black Panthers in California triggered Gov. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enabling_Act_of_1933

The Enabling Act of 1933 (German: Ermächtigungsgesetz, officially titled Gesetz zur Behebung der Not von Volk und Reich. 'Law to Remedy the Distress of People and Reich') was a law that gave the German Cabinet—most importantly, the chancellor, Adolf Hitler—the power to make and enforce laws without the involvement of the Reichstag or President Paul von Hindenburg. By allowing the chancellor to override the checks and balances in the constitution, the Enabling Act of 1933 was a pivotal step in the transition from the democratic Weimar Republic to the totalitarian dictatorship of Nazi Germany.

Background

On 30 January 1933, Adolf Hitler, leader of the Nazi Party (NSDAP), was appointed as Chancellor, the head of the German government. Hitler immediately asked President von Hindenburg to dissolve the Reichstag. A general election was scheduled for 5 March 1933.

Reichstag fire

On 27 February 1933, the Reichstag building of the German parliament caught fire. Acting as chancellor, Hitler immediately accused the Communists of perpetrating the arson as part of a larger effort to overthrow the German government. He persuaded Hindenburg to enact the Reichstag Fire Decree, which abolished most civil liberties, including the right to speak, assemble and protest, and the right to due process. A state of emergency was declared on the basis of the decree, which enabled a violent crackdown against the Nazis' political enemies, in particular the Communist Party.

Amid the ongoing repression, Hitler contended that the Reichstag Fire Decree was nonetheless insufficient and demanded a more sweeping measure. He submitted to the Reichstag a proposal for an enabling law that would grant effectively untrammeled power to his cabinet.

"Trump says X, but without evidence."

This is "fairness," according to the considered journalistic opinion of the New York Times. It's obvious that this is a failed strategy of disputing Trump's lies. Thinking it is fair to report a lie from Trump's mouth and then say it is either a lie or presented without evidence is not even old-fashioned. Our 20th century elders knew better than to engage in such nonsense. You don't report lies. Period.

The Oversite Committee has been looking into Party for Socialism and Liberation financial activities for several months. They are a real political party, with some possible campaign finance violations because they refuse to report their activities as political. Long story. They are one reason we have Trump anyway. They went out of their way to get everyone to vote third party and paid for protesters to protest the DNC. They are responsible for the statement, "Genocide Joe". They had their own presidential candidates.

https://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Letter-to-Treasury-re-Asset-Seizure.pdf

Reportedly, Mr. Singham, a U.S. citizen with ties to the CCP, has been funding and
supporting various extremist entities in the United States with the aim of causing destruction and
division in our country.1 On July 10, 2024, Secretary Marco Rubio, then-Vice Chairman of the
U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and Senator Lindsey Graham, then-Ranking
Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, wrote to Attorney General Merrick
Garland raising concerns about Mr. Singham’s activities on behalf of the CCP.2 It does not
appear that the Biden Administration addressed this potential source of civil unrest

Biden didn't investigate them, even though they had a candidate that was running against him. I guess Biden didn't take them seriously enough or didn't want to get people mad.

I wish the NY Times had not called them "Liberal Groups". PSL is communist and supports totalitarianism. These are not "Liberal Groups".

Antifa is also not a "Liberal Group". It's more or less anarchist.

In searching, I can only find 2 over the entire past 5 years - Charlie Kirk and Donald Trump. And none of those incidents has yet been proven to be perpetrated by anyone on the "left". All the alleged perpetrators have personal or family history on the far right. Can Trump or any conservative even name another conservative victim? The next most recent one I can find is Steve Scalise being shot but that was over 8 years ago.

Meanwhile, it's easy to name Democratic victims - the 2 Democratic legislators in Minnesota plus their spouses, PA Governor Josh Shapiro, Paul Pelosi, two New Mexico state legislators and two Bernalillo County commissioners were targets of a shooting spree by a Republican who lost an election, MI Governor Gretchen Whitmer was a victim of an attempted kidnapping, U.S. District Judge Esther Salas was the target of an attack by a disgruntled men's rights lawyer which ended up killing her son. And that doesn't even get into Jan 6.

https://www.economist.com/graphic-detail/2025/09/12/is-radical-left-violence-really-on-the-rise-in-america

One paper by Celinet Duran of the State University of New York at Oswego studied political violence between 1990 and 2020. It found that there were far more frequent and deadly attacks by the hard-right than the hard-left, although left-wing violence increased throughout the study period. A separate tally by the Anti-Defamation League, an advocacy group, shows that 76% of extremist-related murders over the past decade were committed by those on the right.

I don't know why the labels don't show but the red represents violence by the right, and black represents violence by the left.

Tue Sep 16, 2025, 01:07 PM
Sep 2025

That's the official line from the Vice President and Gauleiter Stephen Miller:

Three days after the murder of Charlie Kirk, allegedly by one Tyler Robinson of Utah, Vice President JD Vance and other government officials seized the means of production of Kirk’s podcast, so as not to let a good tragedy or Kirk’s audience of more than 3 million to go to waste. They put on their own state-sponsored show, right out of Vance’s office, to try to blame the killing on liberals and declare and incite retribution on George Soros, the Ford Foundation, and anyone insufficiently sad over Kirk’s death.
...
“I read a story in The Nation magazine about my dear friend Charlie Kirk. Now, The Nation isn't a fringe blog. It's a well-funded, well-respected magazine whose publishing history goes back to the American Civil War. George Soros’s Open Society Foundation funds this magazine, as does the Ford Foundation and many other wealthy titans of the American Progressive Movement. The writer accuses Charlie of saying, and I quote, ‘Black women do not have brain processing power to be taken seriously.’ But if you go and watch the clip, the very clip she links to, you realize he never said anything like that. He never uttered those words.”
...
“There is no unity with someone who lies about what Charlie Kirk said in order to excuse his murder. There is no unity with someone who harasses an innocent family the day after the father of that family lost a dear friend. There is no unity with the people who celebrate Charlie Kirk's assassination. And there is no unity with the people who fund these articles, who pay the salaries of these terrorists. [...] Did you know that the George Soros Open Society Foundation and the Ford Foundation, the groups who funded that disgusting article justifying Charlie's death, do you know they benefit from generous tax treatment? They are literally subsidized by you and me, the American taxpayer.“
...
Miller took to X to coo about how much fun he was having witch-hunting online for the enemies within among his fellow citizens.

“In recent days, we have learned just how many Americans in positions of authority—child services, law clerks, hospital nurses, teachers, gov’t workers, even DOD employees—have been deeply and violently radicalized. The consequence of a vast, organized ecosystem of indoctrination.”
