They had long debates about what should happen if a monarchical president were to order his armed forces to invade individual states and trample their freedoms. It may have taken 250 years, but we are now at the point of that long anticipated Constitutional crisis.

A "well-regulated militia" need be nothing more than a school district's police force protecting its students and their families from being kidnapped:

Carvalho said he had ordered school district police officers to create safe zones around graduation sites and principals to ensure families could enter quickly so that they wouldn’t be exposed while waiting in line. Three district patrol cars were stationed outside the Wilshire Ebell on Monday.

Defending against school shooters is, admittedly, a much bigger problem across the country and requires different solutions and regulations.

I'm simply pointing out why we have a 2nd Amendment in the first place and how it can help defend against the Federal invasion situation in Los Angeles and elsewhere. Outside of a well-regulated militia, I'm all for banning assault weapons.
