Why is it so hard for Dems to AT LEAST hold a press conference.

to set the record straight that WE aren't the perpetrators of violence and that trump et al are trying to foment fear and stiffle dissent?

Why is it so hard?

Other democracies have tactics like maintaining a "Shadow cabinet" to talk openly about where the opposition disagrees with the administration in power. I guess we don't think that is dignified or polite enough.

I would suggest that the answer to the question in the thread title is that we have the wrong people in charge, but then somebody would report me for not being sufficiently understanding of everybody operating within the Democratic Party, so I'm not going to do that.

For not being able to get a strong liberal/democratic message out through that biased media that fires people for gently noting that Charlie Kirk was largely indifferent to school shootings yet routinely gives megaphones to right-wing lies and propaganda and even calls for violence.

Go see a rally or podcast from your favorite democratic politician, it's very likely to be far more to your liking.

Funny how democratic politicians can get a strong message out when they control the microphone, or it's controlled by someone friendly, but they can't get that kind of message out the msm....

I think if democratic leadership adopted a stronger, fighting, unified stance, the media would simply start shutting them down. Not inviting them back, working with republicans to create pseudo-scandals about them, new programs with shouting matches featuring 4 republicans and one democrat, etc.

This is the result of the right pouring trillions of dollars over the last 45 or so years into controlling and dominating the media landscape. We are far, far too late in joining that fight and mere messaging is no match for controlling the microphone in a highly propagandistic media environment.

Maybe the game is already lost. Maybe there is truly nothing we can do now.

Many of us are frustrated because we have been trying to sound the alarms for a generation or more, always to face a chorus of "Just sit down and shut up. The system is strong. It will take care of itself."

Well, it didn't. It could be that Trump will succeed in installing such a totalitarian government that we all end up in prison or worse. But in that case, the regime can eventually round all of us up anyway based on the vast amount of data already controlled by the Big Data companies, so what is gained by lying low? If we still have a pulse -- and I am told that if comment about elected Democrats I will be banned here, so I won't say anything about the quality of opposition at the Party level -- we should be using every breath we have to fight this to the end.

Who do I ever see to listen to? The one that comes to mind is Newsom. Pritzker when Chicago is involved. Bernie gets a lot of attention. Maybe more Dem leaders from a variety of geographical areas and political positions should organize "rallies" and go on tour. Rotate leaders depending on location. DO SOMETHING to get attention to increase audience members and attract both local and national media. Include humor as well as constructive criticism. Broadcast live online. Post bits online. Create a special website for rallies, with lots of updates, interviews and, most importantly, tell Dems what to do to help end this dreadful regime and era.

Dems need to coordinate efforts. How great would it be to see well known governors to coordinate efforts together instead of trying to make headway alone?

Trump is not worthy of response or the time spent in composing one. to Bernie, who has done this so long it's second nature. He can respond off the cuff.

My other reason would be they might as well say, "Proceed, Governor," like what Obama said in a presidential debate. Trump is so busy destroying himself, I don't see any reason to interrupt him.

I've been writing more on a couple other sites where readers include Democrats and independents who are strongly opposed to the felon, maga, and the destruction of the United States. Thus, I did not see this post until being selected for jury duty at around 12:35 am/est. I will have to look at DU:GD closer.

I would like to see a press conference with Democratic Party leaders and the victims of Epstein. Our party leaders would not even have to talk much at all. By just being there, they would be seen to be endorsing the need to give these ladies a public stage.

I understand a good friend here is correct in noting the corporate media will not provide proper coverage, if any at all, if these party leaders hold a usual press conference. Indeed, they do not cover it when an AOC, or a Bernie, or a Jasmine Crockett speaks to a large audience.

My friend did mention podcasts. We know that the maga has used podcasts to organize and energize their base. We know that has included maga politicians appearing on podcasts, including the felon himself. Yet our party has not made a significant attempt to organize and energize our base on podcasts.

AOC, Bernie, and Jasmine Crockett organize and energize their audiences. Our leaders should learn from their example. Obviously, a Chuck Schumer isn't as charismatic as, say, Jasmine. But he could appear with her.

why don't you support those that are setting the record straight ?

There are many liberal and democratic people on social media doing it.

social media is whether Charlie Kirk was popular.

You keep missing the real problem and stop stuck on tv and cable news.

Our state reps in Virginia come to all of the meetings , they listen they talk and they educate us as to what is happening in the senate. No young people attend the meetings because why i don’t have answers. Most people will tune out they don’t care about policy , they want sound bites and good vibes. If you are only concerned during presidential elections then the most popular will win no matter what the policies.. their is a site on Reddit Leopards ate my face, he told them what he was going to do and he is doing it but it only matters because they are being affected.

not doing enough, not using the right magic words to stop Trump and all bad Republican things. If those strongly worded magic speeches worked, the revolution would have happened years and years ago.

they will *poof* turn into Republicans ( believing there is only a sliver of difference between the two parties).

In this culture the inhabitants think they are actually saving the country by demonizing Democrats this way.
