What most people are missing with regard to the farm "subsidies" or as most of us put it...

farm welfare bill. It includes a 60 billion dollar handout but here's the kicker: it won't take place until fall of 2026 according to this very informative USA Today article:
https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2025/09/15/farmers-corn-soybean-economic-pressures-profits/86091737007/

So by then many small to medium sized farms will be bankrupt. As many of you have accurately pointed out, it's exactly what they voted for so...let the chips fall where they may

Basically, they have a few weeks left for the harvest. The MAGAs are betting everything on Bessent getting some temporary reprieve in the China negotiations going on now (i.e., they agree to purchase some portion of the soybean crop). If that doesn't happen they will need a 2025 stopgap bailout for soybean farmers. The structured subsidies will start next year because they also know that China has definitively switched a significant percentage of its purchasing to Brazil, and it's pretty much not coming back, so the MAGAs need time to try t locate some alternative market. If they can subsidize through 2026, they assume they can strongarm some other entity into buying the crop.

What's pretty clear now is that China found the right lever point, and that the US was far more sensitive to China imports of US goods (to wit, soy beans, pork, etc.) than the Trumpies would have us believe. They've got Trumpy over a bushel, so to speak.

and it adds context and clarity to what I posted. Their racism, misogyny and overall greed is going to finally burn them it would appear. Ya knew it had to happen. Everyone who casts their lot with Trumpler gets hurt eventually.

to take effect long before the tax increase to pay for them even when the outgoing money is in the same bill as the tax increase. They did that for years with Social Security. It makes them look good to constituents.
