Kinzinger: Civil War? The REALITY You NEED to Understand

Civil War? The REALITY You NEED to Understand

Is America really headed toward a civil war? A lot of people online are calling for it, but they have no idea what it would actually mean. Nothing we take for granted today would survive.

Before cheering for conflict, understand what you’d really be asking for. The costs would far outweigh any so-called benefits, and in the end, the issues that divide us now would pale in comparison to the suffering a civil war would bring.

Let’s fight our battles where they belong — in debate, in democracy, at the ballot box — not through violence.

2. I think a "civil war" if it happens, will be more mundane and random

Random acts of violence (ala Charlie Kirk, OK City), but no full blown civil war. Arguably, we are already in a cultural civil war but that's a whole different cookie.

The vast majority of people don't want to miss watching football or the Bachelorette.

4. MAGA conservatives thinking they could win a civil war need to ask themselves one question.

"What kind of country do we want our children and Vladimir Putin to inherit?"

That's the end result of a MAGA victory, a victory that we dare not see come to pass.

I pointed out the aspects of supply lines, utilities going down, etc. I also noted those 'militias' would commandeer anything and everything - regardless of collateral damage to their own - to survive. And of course, the militia-lords would then go against each other for dominance.

The one question that I still ask myself is if the Armed Forces would allow this. At times it seems like they're sleeping, just doing what the modern version of Baron Harkonen in the White House tells them to do.

No, I don't think it'll be an all-out civil war. Though there might be localized conflicts here and there.

… civilian resistance makes an actual shooting civil war obsolete. It would be literally a bloodbath, and would be over before it started. They have far greater intelligence resources, support capabilities and weaponry. We are no longer two sides armed with muskets, swords and bayonets fighting over a hill. Drones controlled by AI would do the bulk of the damage, and “we” don’t really have any.

We would do well not to romanticize a civil war.

8. But what if the right wing elements combine?

Those in the military, which is perhaps most of them, with right wing militias?

The left is not eager to fight anyone. They just want to vote and have a fair count. Yet they are being demonized as terrorists.

They figure we'll be doing GOTV drives under their machine gun fire. They only understand equal might. In other words, if they pull any violence we would be able to take them apart equally or worse. Presently, they think we will just hide in our closets. Actually, why would they think any differently?

10. I don't think we will have that option when he comes for Dems with police for being terrorists.

Neither will we when he has his Ice goons arrest us at polling places and puts us in concentration camps - ala Alligator Alcatraz. All of this is planned, but as we saw Chicago made a difference with outright hostility to the fascists and standing up to them. Trump is a bully, and if he thinks he's going to get punched in the mouth, it appears he just moves on like the total coward he is.

Memphis - please be alert and aware, you are next.

12. I recall that many years ago, Civil War 2.0 was "wargamed"...

...by a couple of experts (military historians?...I forget the details). Their conclusions were sobering, and they concur with Rep. Kinzinger's. I recall the money quote: "tactical nuclear weapons [and other unconventional weapons] were used early and often".
