I think it's pretty clear that gay children raised in conservative households can suffer a lot of psychological damage

Turning to murder in this situation is clearly not warranted but I think it's pretty clear that Tyler had emotional issues exacerbated by him being who he was born to be and his family not accepting that kind of lifestyle. LGBTQ+ people raised in rejecting or non-affirming families often face significantly higher risks of depression, anxiety, substance use, and suicidal behavior. These mental health struggles can be exacerbated when personal identity conflicts with family or community values, especially in highly conservative or religious contexts.

I hope this come up in the current National dialogue.

In their minds, there's no such thing as innately gay people, just people who've been made that way because of the gay/liberal agenda, brainwashed if you will by our permissive attitude on the subject. This kid would've been a perfectly cis/straight normie if it wasn't for the Left's corrupting him!!!11!!

Also not to be didactic but they are the ones who favor the term "lifestyle" to describe this phenomenon that exists all across nature, esp. so in our (arguably) closest animal cousins Bonobo apes. I don't think we should adopt its use, but to each their own

Other than that, I completely agree with what you are saying

but the media seems much more focused on the effects of social media and his Discord communications (I guess).

Even though he probably won't meet the legal definition of insanity, it's clear that he was talking about taking his own life before going to jail and then his family talked him out of it. Being queer (what the kids are calling it these days) and having a close relationship with an ultra-conservative family can mess up your head.

Maybe we just wait for the facts to come in? Three days ago he was ultra-MAGA avenging angel here on DU and now he’s an LGBTQ+ kid with emotional issues.

Guns.

He clearly had personal issues with Kirk. Dowd might have been more on the mark about the shooters motives than even he knew.

The person chose gun violence, but not likely because of some left wing indoctrination, but simply because of how he was raised. Only most people don't see this type of childhood as dangerous. No matter how many school shootings include raised in a household where guns availability was taken for granted.

The actual psychological profile will likely be as complex as I figured it was going to be. Although, I think he is likely not clinically insane. We will probably hear much more before the trial. The whole situation is sad. These situation always are.
