Unpacking some "leftist" violence claims from Erick Schmitt (R-Mo)from today's wacky Patel hearing

Schmitt went into an absolute tirade of bothsiderism, about a worldwide criminal leftist violence conspiracy, George Soros funded, blah blah blah (11:23)

He labelled the following as "left wing" (11:23)

- Darrel Brooks, severely mentally ill, bipolar, sex offender with an extensive criminal history who drove his vehicle through a parade in Waukesha, killing 6 people. Claimed to be a sovereign citizen at his trial

- Lee Zeldin assailant - Iraq vet who was drinking all day, blacked out, and thought Zeldin was insulting veterans. Attacked him with a key chain shaped like a cat. Zeldin was not injured and the man got probation and required treatment for alcoholism.

- Thomas Crooks, attempted Trump assassination in Butler (pro-Trump)

- Ryan Routh, attempted assassin at Trump golf course- delusional guy with mental health problems and multiple brushes with the law who became obsessed with trying to recruit soldiers for Ukraine. He supported Trump in 2016, then later denounced him.

- Decarlos Brown Jr, killer who stabbed the Ukrainian woman on light rail train - severe mental health issues, no known political ties
- 2 school shooters with gender issues??

- 2 men who planted incendiary devices under cop car in Utah - presumed terrorist activity, middle-eastern names

- Charlie Kirk assassin- no known "left wing" ties.

To be fair, he also named, correctly, left-motivated folks, including
- Guy that shot Steve Scalise
- George Floyd rioters
- Folks who torched Teslas

We seem to have an equal opportunity severe mental health crisis in this country. But we don't own as many of the wackos as he blames us for.

Someone needs to fact check these claims. I've started it for whomever wants to run with it.

It was about police brutality and inequality, but that doesn’t automatically make it ideological. It was a reaction.
