The reason some of you wouldn't let us have our first Woman president (twice)

Was the same reason you didn’t want us to have our first Black president.

You feared that they would be really good at the job, and Barack Obama turned out to be more than really good.

And if they were really good it wouldn’t be the last time.

I have a long time excellent friend who I communicate online with a lot and I know in real life, a Black Gay Woman who educated me in a big way.

Very first comment she made on the message board at the time it was the Randi Rhodes message board, was that all of this racism and bigotry could be traced to a simple fact that many white people were afraid to compete with Black people.

She often said the same applies to many men do not want to compete with Women. And this is not limited to republican men or conservative men or whatever.

In most cases the enemy is them, but sometimes it is us.

Men routinely insult each other by calling each other girls. They know we can beat them on a level playing field look at how they instinctively circled the wagons against a woman leader. Honestly, I’m 76. I don’t know how we defeat this. When Hillary got beat, I felt like my whole life was for nothing.

I had the experience of hearing from a couple of right wingers and progressive types that did not support him telling me how uncooperative he was and how he never reached across the aisle and how terrible that part of his presidency was.

The absolute fact was nobody ever cooperated with the other side or reached across to the other side more than President Obama, the first Black president. He had to obviously.

That was when I first realized that something was changing, that the truth simply was gone completely from the other side, in the past it was only gone mostly.

I say this in jest because Obama and Biden worked very well together for eight years. They had nothing but respect and admiration for one another, and I think they still remain friends to this day.

How many people - white or black - who have ever worked for Chump, consider him a "friend"?

I'm guessing the answer is NONE.....

Hats off to Obama and Biden.

The people that vote Trump are ethically, morally, and intellectual bankrupt. It's a sad commentary on America that Trump is president. There is no sane explanation for believing in the man.

It always looks like amateur hour in this administration. They fired anyone who did their job correctly but failed some loyalty test or was too diverse looking.

We're seeing all the recession indicators: slowdown in hiring, slowdown in consumer spending, uncertainty, etc. Yet MAGA voters still somehow think GOP is good for the economy. It's incredible.

In 2008, Michigan moved its primary to earlier than the party permitted. Somehow, as a result, not all the candidates were on the primary ballot. I voted "non of the above" (or equivalent) because I would have preferred to vote for John Edwards (this was early in the race, before he became "that" John Edwards).

As far as voting for women in general, I would hope that, whatever the reason for our individual votes in the primary, that we would all vote for the Dem in the general, man, woman, camera, yellow dog, whatever.

And, repeating an earlier question in the thread, who are you talking to?

However, When Hillary ran the first time, Sanders supporters-folks who consider themselves the far left in may cases-refused to vote for her. Let me tell you, it is not only the right who are not sold on a woman president...there is misogyny on the left as well. I think Kamala Harris was more complicated. I have always believed Biden should have not have been been pushed out. It was too late and history tell us what happens in these situations-the Johnson recusal and our subsequent lost to Nixon are an example of this phenomenon.

In addition Kamala was always going to struggle with the Midwest which is where presidential elections are won or lost. I know it is stupid but being from California hurt her chances. I have mixed feeling about Newsome for this reason. I love him, but can he win? We must not lose in 28.

I am saddened to say this but I just don't think there are enough votes to elect a woman president at the moment. It is hard to fathom how such prejudice still exists...but it does IMHO. I desperately hope that changes or that I am wrong. I will vote of course proudly vote for the Democratic nominee in all elections. I don't have to fall in 'love', a "D" next to his or her name is all that is required.

both Hillary and Kamala. But sure, there would be a % of Dems who would not.

But your logic doesn't hold because countless women have been elected to countless positions already, from Dog Catcher to Councilwoman, to Mayor, up to Congresswoman, Senator and Governor, etc. Just not the presidency, yet.

And I believe Trump pulled some shit to "win" over Hillary and Kamala. Will probably take that to my grave.

But I also think most of them voted for both Women but by definition most is not all and some did not.

Of course they will vote for Women in lower positions but still some will say “but we have to have a man as president.”

We know this is true about the majority of people on the right, but misogyny and racism exists on this side also.

Then there’s the idiots who wouldn’t vote for her because of Gaza.

That still would not excuse the 30% or so of the registered voters that DIDN'T BOTHER TO VOTE AT ALL. (If we can believe the statistics, that is.)

The vast majority of that 30% still believe there’s no reason to vote and is unaware of most of what is happening.
