Seriously, what is the best we can hope for after today's CDC hearing?

The doctors who were fired from the CDC conducted themselves well and anyone with two brain cells to rub together would believe them over RFK, Jr. Most of the Rs questioning them made fools of themselves, especially Mark Wayne Billy Bob Mullin and Sen. Moody, who I saw referred to on bluesky as a dollar store Elaine Stefanik.

Sen. Cassidy, a doctor himself, seemed to be on the side of science and disturbed by the fact that the doctors were being asked to ignore science.

But what's the bottom line? Will Cassidy do anything? I'm not feeling optimistic.

With everything the fascist pig is destroying, it is too late to fix anything... I feel like all we are doing is chasing our tails, barely keeping our heads above water and getting no where fast. None of us are moving forward to a better future. The light at the end of the tunnel is no where to be found...

but unless I'm wrong, Cassidy could do something about RFK if he wanted to rally his fellow Rs, or maybe even on his own. I just don't know if he has the courage.

He seems like a reasonable man - except for being a Republican, of course.

but that doesn't always translate to moral courage or even critical thinking skills, unfortunately. It doesn't take an MD to realize that RFK was not to be trusted and he voted for him anyway.

But since that’s highly unlikely, we’re just going to have to resign ourselves to the fact that these imbeciles are here to stay.

Unless and until the People rise up and put an end to this shit by force, which is what it’s going to take, this is now America. And it only gets worse from here.

Fascism only ends one way.

Maybe they will have family and friends die. Viruses don't care what party you are.

When I think of Covid, I think of a nurse I knew who was moved to work in intensive care right when Covid hit, because she had experience with ventilators. The hospital was always at full capacity and she was seeing people of all ages die in the hospital. Of course there were no vaccines to protect staff, and they each had one mask that they had to keep reusing.

For healthcare workers on the frontline it truly was hell.
