Ilhan Omar censure fails to pass in shock House vote

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) failed Wednesday in her attempt to censure Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) over comments about the assassination of Charlie Kirk after four Republicans voted against her measure.

Why it matters: It's a sign of mounting dissatisfaction in both parties with the growing use of censure — once a serious rebuke for malfeasance by members of Congress — as a partisan weapon.

GOP Reps Mike Flood (R-Neb.), Jeff Hurd (R-Colo.), Tom McClintock (R-Calif.) and Cory Mills (R-Fla.) voted to table the measure.
