(8,870 posts)apologize and donate to a group that promotes racism, bigotry, hate speech and white supremacist ideology.
A read of Sinclair's history reveals not only the breath of their control over the media, but that they have LONG been coercing their stations' news coverage in ways that favoured and promoted right winged, conservative ideology and viewpoints:
Sinclair Broadcast Group - Wikipedia
A 2019 study by Emory University political scientists Gregory J. Martin and Josh McCrain in the American Political Science Review found that "stations bought by Sinclair reduce coverage of local politics, increase national coverage and move the ideological tone of coverage in a conservative direction relative to other stations operating in the same market"
A 2021 study found that viewers in areas with a Sinclair TV station had lower approval of President Barack Obama and were less likely to vote for Democratic presidential nominees.
A 2023 study found that Sinclair-owned stations aired fewer reports mentioning masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, but their reports were more likely to focus on partisan views of the issue.
