Did King Charles bend the knee for Donald Trump?

After all, Trump has leverage over him with the information in the Epstein files. The royals probably do not want Andrew on the front pages of London's tabloids?

But the British people are proud people. They would not go along with that idea.

However, we saw Trump getting the royal treatment yesterday, with the large military parade, marching in front of the King, and riding in the royal carriage, before finally bedding down in the Windsor Castle.

Who knows how the British will react to the fawning over Trump? We know there were protests all over because of his visit.

Could be about Prince Andrew and other royals involved with Epstein.
In part.

The reality is that Charles has to follow the orders of the UK government.
He is only head of state.

So the question also is what does the UK govt want from Trump?

They screwed themselves over with Brexit and now they need the US more than ever.

So they will flatter Trump to stay on his good side, which seems to have worked pretty well for Starmer so far.

If Trump feels slighted in the least, the wrath of the entire US govt could come down on the UK.
They are in trouble because of Brexit, the economy is terrible and they do not need another hit from the US.

She took one for the team.
It was disgusting and out of character for her.

The fact it was the second state visit and Trump was allowed to spend the night
at Windsor Castle, are all marks of honor.

David Cay Johnston still maintains that if the file goes public it will be Trump's undoing.

What a sordid nest of perversion.

6. Not really. The UK tends to pull out all the stops for any state visit.

More importantly, they know Trump loves flattery and attention, and they also know he's an ignorant putz who has no clue how the UK government works. All the power is with Parliament; the King has virtually none. But Fatso can waddle away feeling all happy because he got a dog-and-pony show from an actual King, which he wishes he was - probably not realizing that Charles II is essentially just a mascot who can't make anything happen. But that warm fuzzy feeling he got from being stroked by a monarch might induce him to lay off on the tariffs and stop pissing so hard on NATO. He got played by smarter people, as he always does.

Read the Kings speech here:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/read-king-state-banquet-speech-055756311.html

snip

“Our two nations have an exceptional legacy of shared discovery. Together, we laid the foundations of nuclear science, mapped the human genome and built the internet, upon which all contemporary commerce, communication and defence is based. Together, our scientists and engineers are shaping the world of tomorrow, not least with new partnership agreements on technology, and the prosperity that stands to bring.

“Our countries have the closest defence, security and intelligence relationship ever known. In two world wars, we fought together to defeat the forces of tyranny. Today, as tyranny once again threatens Europe, we and our allies stand together in support of Ukraine, to deter aggression and secure peace. And our Aukus submarine partnership, with Australia, sets the benchmark for innovative and vital collaboration.

“The successors of the British Redcoats and of George Washington’s Continental Army today stand shoulder-to-shoulder, brothers and sisters in arms, protecting the freedoms we both cherish. Our countries are working together in support of crucial diplomatic efforts, not least of which, Mr President, is your own personal commitment to finding solutions to some of the world’s most intractable conflicts, in order to secure peace.

“In striving together for a better world, we also have a precious opportunity to safeguard and to restore the wonders and beauty of nature for the generations who follow us. We share the ambition, and determination, to preserve our majestic lands and waters; above all, to ensure that we have clean water, clean air and clean food.

He sure as hell took subtle and not so subtle digs at tsf.

14. "Bend the knee"? No. But he is "sanewashing" him, by treating him like an acceptable fellow head of state

rather than an authoritarian who'd like a fascist state. No, Trump doesn't have leverage with Epstein; Andrew is embarrassing, but not vital to them - he is responsible for his sexual crimes, and they recognise that.

What they're doing is the same as for Xi in 2015, or Ceausescu in 1978 (though that says QE2 hid in a bush to avoid him in private time, so she was clearly pissed off at having him forced on her). The UK government can be creeps when it's the easiest option.

They just had a huge hate march a few days ago led by their resident asshole Tommy Robinson. Fascism is on the rise all across the western world. It sickens me to see working class people backing it.
