I hope these folks do the right thing.
Re Kimmel, it's important that Disney has left itself an out--it is a "suspension," not a cancellation or firing. What happens in the next two days--reaction within the company but also in the press, in the industry, in Washington, among consumers, and on social media--may affect how this plays out.

(26,618 posts)Could return knowing his company doesn't have his back. Worse, it's hard to know what talentless hack will take over the show, because the people with talent aren't preforming or writing for a show that doesn't support them.

(5,611 posts)Continuing the show means that hundreds of people keep their jobs. If he leaves, there's likely no replacement show, ABC will just give up the time.
But I don't know how he can stay knowing that he has to be careful about saying even noncontroversial stuff. Whatever Jimmy said was vetted by lawyers before it went on the air, so if that's not good enough what is.

We're in uncharted territory right now, the Federal government of the United States is now picking and choosing what people can say.

(21 posts)These "suspensions" become firings in almost every case. The "suspension" is used while a negotiation for an exit, typically a payoff and "exit contract" being worked on.

They are demanding an apology and a donation from Kimmel, I think, perhaps part of the suspension
Hope he tells them to get bent

ABC may well let him back on the air, and Sinclair may well choose not to air the show.

(38,109 posts)He needs to make a joke a night about the Regime's failure to release the Epstein files.
We all know that everything they do (the Regime) is to try and distract from the Regime's and their powerful male benefactors dirty, sick, deeds.

(1,106 posts)They put themselves in a bad position playing both sides. They grew a lot of animosity over the years with the right. Heck, a friend of mine still goes on about cancelling Gina Carano. Now, they've pissed off the left cancelling Jimmy Kimmel. They have fewer friends outside Wall Street and Club 33 Members every day.
