For those that think that King Charles rolled over and kissed tsf's ass.

Read the Kings speech here:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/read-king-state-banquet-speech-055756311.html

snip

“Our two nations have an exceptional legacy of shared discovery. Together, we laid the foundations of nuclear science, mapped the human genome and built the internet, upon which all contemporary commerce, communication and defence is based. Together, our scientists and engineers are shaping the world of tomorrow, not least with new partnership agreements on technology, and the prosperity that stands to bring.

“Our countries have the closest defence, security and intelligence relationship ever known. In two world wars, we fought together to defeat the forces of tyranny. Today, as tyranny once again threatens Europe, we and our allies stand together in support of Ukraine, to deter aggression and secure peace. And our Aukus submarine partnership, with Australia, sets the benchmark for innovative and vital collaboration.

“The successors of the British Redcoats and of George Washington’s Continental Army today stand shoulder-to-shoulder, brothers and sisters in arms, protecting the freedoms we both cherish. Our countries are working together in support of crucial diplomatic efforts, not least of which, Mr President, is your own personal commitment to finding solutions to some of the world’s most intractable conflicts, in order to secure peace.

“In striving together for a better world, we also have a precious opportunity to safeguard and to restore the wonders and beauty of nature for the generations who follow us. We share the ambition, and determination, to preserve our majestic lands and waters; above all, to ensure that we have clean water, clean air and clean food.

He sure as hell took subtle and not so subtle digs at tsf.

Or, by mentioning General Washington, did he subtly include him??

The Brits amaze me every time I read something they say or write. They can put meaning in contracted language that no other culture can approach.

Today, as tyranny once again threatens Europe, we and our allies stand together in support of Ukraine, to deter aggression and secure peace.

With the POTUS standing there, to not explicitly call out the United States among "our allies" creates the implication that failing to support Ukraine (which His Orangeness has been a bit reluctant on) is an affront to our status as an ally of the UK.

Hear, but isn’t it a dog whistle to mention George Washington’s army and the redcoats since it doesn’t include the diverse reality we’re dealing with today? Even if he didn’t mean it that way, the white nation crazies would see it that way.

When white men dominated, which would have been at the inception of this nation. Whether the Brits meant it or not, the rightwing Christian nationalist will see the reference to that era as a wink, wink, nudge, nudge, we were together back then and we can be again- though history might say otherwise.

Trump is so full of himself, he does not understand when he is insulted, he thinks that is a compliment because the insult is loaded with pretty words. Just as King Charles was delivering them in the UK's and their allies's defense of Ukraine. He left out the US on purpose. For the King knows Trump's Russia infatuation.

When dealing with a dangerous lunatic, try de-escalation first.

As for objecting to the thug’s presence, I think the British people, like the Scots, are taking care of that.

As well as environmental protection, by buttering him up and appealing to his vanity.

It probably won't work, but it's at least a worthy attempt. I doubt this is happening because King Charles enjoys his company.
