While true monopolies controlling an entire market are rare, many large companies dominate specific sectors through legal structures, dominant market share, or government-sanctioned control. Examples include energy and utility companies holding regional monopolies, government-run services like the USPS, and large tech platforms that exert significant control over advertising, online search, and social media.
