Shares of Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. slid more than 9% after hours on Wednesday after the Americana-themed restaurant chain forecast falling traffic in the months ahead, in the wake of a logo change and remodeling plans that turned off consumers.
Executives at the chain known for its breakfast and meatloaf dishes, as well as its rocking chairs, fireplaces and games said they expect a same-store traffic decline of 4% to 7% over its fiscal 2026. Cracker Barrels fiscal year runs through July.
Management also forecast total revenue of $3.35 billion to $3.45 billion over that period. Wall Street was expecting revenue of $3.52 billion.
The chain issued the forecast after restoring its old logo, after diners and conservatives reacted angrily to a newer, pared-back one. This month, it also suspended remodeling plans, intended to make stores brighter and more welcoming, after a backlash response from customers who wanted it to keep its home-spun atmosphere.

There aren't any Cracker Barrel restaurants in my part of the country and it sounds like I'm not missing anything.

(5,597 posts)Why would MAGA not return to the restaurants when the logo hasnt changed and the stores look the same?
Could it be the Trump economy sucks? Hmm

(4,004 posts)Their selling point is they give you good amount of food for what they charge, and the kitschy Americana atmosphere and decor is far more inviting than your average Denny's. Since I could easily walk the nearest one from my front door, I have had take-out from there a number of times, however I've only had one dish which is, I guess you'd say, chicken-fried chicken. Basically two rather sizeable boneless chicken breasts coated in fried chicken batter and fried. That particular dish is pretty tasty and the gravy they give you to put on it is pretty solid. Since it comes with three sides I've tried a handful of different ones, and they are not "bad" just really basic and boring. I think you also get some rolls/butter with it, and all told last time I went (maybe 2 years back) it was I think $14 or $15 bucks. Considering you can spent that on a burger combo at a fast food joint these days, it's a fair price for what you get.

(4,004 posts)We agreed the only part we'll maybe really miss is the Nat Geo section. It's always been a go-to when we can't find something else, we both love Nature shows. Fortunately Netflix has a lot of those, and Prime has some too.

(5,545 posts)I looked at their menu online. It looks like "cheap and quick" dishes from the 70's from a magazine for working Moms. It must be comfort food for a lot of people but if you eat that every day I bet that it makes you uncomfortably fat.

(7,422 posts)After they were attacked for changing their logo, I would be worried that a disgruntled logo purist might shoot the place up.
