Free speech does not come without consequences.

The First Amendment is supposed to protect you from criminal charges.

It does not protect you from being shunned or sued.

protects freedom of speech from government interference, but it does NOT shield individuals from criminal charges if their speech falls into categories of unprotected speech, such as incitement, true threats, or obscenity.

Or the government exerts coercion upon private entities to impose punishments. Neither is consistent with the 1st Amendment.
