MI-GOV: Oakland County pastor, a Republican, joins Michigan governor's race
Lansing Pastor Ralph Rebandt has jumped into the Republican primary for governor, marking his second time pursuing the GOP nomination for the state's highest office.
Rebandt, a pastor at Oakland Hills Community Church in Farmington Hills who last ran in the 2022 Republican gubernatorial primary, said he has traveled the state over the past four years to listen to residents about their concerns.
"Ive gained insight into the needs and desires of the citizens of our great state, and some of the most meaningful conversations Ive had have been with young people, Rebandt said.
He announced his bid for the state's top job ahead of the Michigan Republican Party's biennial Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference this weekend at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, where more than 1,000 party activists are expected to gather.
