Harris’s recollection of Vance isn’t so rosy. She recounts a campaign trip to Wisconsin in which her entourage briefly crossed paths with Vance, who walked out toward Air Force Two to “check out my future plane,” as he later put it. “Had I known he was pulling that juvenile stunt, I would’ve been inclined to step from my car and use a word I believe best pronounced correctly. It begins with an m and ends with ah.”
