My godmother was present at and lost her parents in a mass shooting and became convinced that if she had her gun in the restaurant instead of the car, she could have stopped the killer. I am at best skeptical of this theory.

But I assume she's not alone in that as Republicans want to arm teachers and such.

2. I care about what's happening to the country,

and how the incident is being used by the regime to crack down on political opponents and freedom of speech, but I don't GAF about the individual who was shot. Fortunately, his widow is a millionaire and his children are too young to understand what's happened.

There are thousands of victims of gun violence in this country every year. One particular victim doesn't become extra important just because he was well known and well connected.

They're milking it for all it's worth. I don't like the way Charlie Kirk met his demise, but right-wing shitstirrers are a dime a dozen.

10. Not caring about Kirk is not caring about anyone

For example, the assassination of Kirk drastically reduces the possibility of getting cooperation on sensible gun control.

We live in a superficial age. Even our deep feelings aren't deep. They just seem deep relative to the amount of thought work we're willing and habituated to do.
