Anonymous To Launch File Sharing Service

By David Edwards
Monday, January 23, 2012

Hacktivists affiliated with the “Anonymous” movement are planning to launch a file sharing service to replace MegaUpload.com, a similar website the U.S. government recently shut down.

The group hopes to have the new site, Anonyupload.com, up and working by Wednesday.

In an effort to thwart U.S. law enforcement, the group said the free service would be hosted in Russia. Donations were being solicited instead of selling ads.

Last week, the movement took credit for crashing the websites of the U.S. Department of Justice and the Universal Music Group after the FBI shut down one of the most popular file sharing websites, MegaUpload.com.

Knowing our government they would have me in a cell right next to Mr. Dotcom himself! I'm wondering about the legitimate files that were on Megaupload-- are people going to be able to retrieve their files?

and I seriously doubt it. I'm going to have to start over again. If SOPA had been in effect at the time of the "takedown", I guess all of the websites that work on would be gone as well, even though none of the material that I had posted on Megaupload was violating any kind of copyright.

I am going to back up all of my files that I have stored in the cloud today and that is going to be a lot of work because I have files on a number of different sites. I wonder if this is just the beginning of the end...
