Lot there to look down to.

If you haven't read it, you might want to check out "The Gulag Archipelago" by Alexander Solzhenitsyn. The author, at the time a Red Army artillery captain, wrote the history from memory. He was imprisoned in frozen Siberia for 10 years, merely for pointing out "the man with the moustache" in a letter to his brother.

"Unlimited power in the hands of limited people always leads to cruelty. If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being." -- Solzhenitsyn

Stalin may have killed 25 million of his own people. Another 25 million died fighting Hitler. Trump's killed millions of Americans through his incompetence during the COVID epidemic. He wants to get his mitts on the nukes. We must each remember that we each make the choice.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
