He almost didn't sign his last contract extension because he's been doing it for 20 years and was feeling it might be time to move on. When he did sign the extension, he said "After two decades at ABC, I am now looking forward to three years of what they call 'quiet quitting". That implies he wasn't planning on returning once this contract expires in 2026. At this point, I think he cares far more about his personal integrity and would say, if you want to fire me go ahead. He did that in 2022.
