Im pretty sure you can get whatever document you need fairly easy.

(1,948 posts)My state of Arkansas charges $12 for a copy of a birth certificate. Nevada charges the most: $33.

(114,667 posts)That has always been the case for women professionals, and even my own father advised me on that score.
I know it gets tricky when children are expected to be a factor, but this disgraceful attack on women's voting rights says it all (as if there were not a zillion other assaults to be considered on that score).

(66,519 posts)if they get divorced. Here in Florida, that means getting a certified copy of the recorded divorce ($$) IIRC.

(60,320 posts)"Maiden name" and "married name" are outdated claptrap that should be discarded forthwith.
When I got married (for a while) my wife kept her name. She asked me what I thought about it and I shrugged my shoulders and said I thought it was fine.

(5,262 posts)Cost me 25 for a birth certificate. But I changed states, so 100 for real ID.
Sounds like someone doesn't like women.
Blame someone else, how very adult.

(40,852 posts)I haven't got a "Real ID" and nobody has forced me to get one yet.
The whole thing offends me.

(17,147 posts)No doubt women that get married are the largest part of that cohort, but the additional documentation required for Real ID applies to anyone that legally changes their name.
Documentation might be marriage/divorce papers, adoption papers, court orders, etc..
I'm not aware of a different birth certificate requirement for married women than for anyone else.

(133,057 posts)So if they lose a birth certificate they need to get one more often than men. Because men's names never change so they don't have to be as careful with documentation.
I didn't think what I was posting was controversial.
