Apparently they think running alternate programming is a better idea than allowing people to access what they really want.
Not sure if this is just a petty reflex and knee bending sop to the orange anus or what.
So today we cancel Disney and will be selecting businesses to boycott.
Have liked watching David Muir but that is going too.

(6,703 posts)The program guide says it's a new show but has a generic show description for Kimmel all this week, while the Colbert and Fallon listings both list specific guests. Guess I'll know for certain Wednesday morning when I review the dvr.

'Dan Satterfield Posted by Dan Satterfield Just now Ok, I keep getting asked about how to complain about Kimmel. The best way to complain that will have the biggest impact? See if you have a Sinclair or nexstar station in your area. 2. Watch the local newscast tonight or some time this week. 3. Note the companies that bought tv adverts. 4. Call them and let them know you will boycott them until they they quit supporting that media company. Trust me. I worked in tv for 45 years. Nothing you do will have greater impact. Nothing.'.

Disney does not own Sinclair.
Disney cannot force Sinclair to take it.
Disney (ABC) has reinstated Kimmel.
If you boycott Disney, they will think you are a right-wing Kimmel hater boycotting them for reinstating Kimmel.
Boycott Sinclair. Contact the station to let the right target know.

(16,507 posts)If a station with a network affiliation preempts one of the networks show, another TV station of no affiliation or even another network affiliation can pick up and run the preempted show.
So, if an ABC affiliate doesn't want to run Kimmel, a CBS station can. Or an independent station.
I would love to see some rival stations in a Sinclair market essentially but legally pirate the Kimmel show away.

Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper, make your voice heard. You'll get Kimmel back on the air in Madison.

UPDATE: Sinclair is NOT going to broadcast Jimmy Kimmel, even though ABC is resuming production.

Sinclair has demanded that Kimmel personally donate to Turning Point USA, a right-wing political organization.
David Smith, executive chairman of Sinclair, donated 250K to Turning Point USA last year.

(8,819 posts)I asked Xfinitys virtual assistant how to watch and got the following response:
If your local Sinclair station is not airing Jimmy Kimmel, you can explore other options available through Xfinity. You can watch shows on networks like ABC, which may have the episode available on their website or app. Additionally, you can check out streaming options on platforms like Hulu, where episodes of Jimmy Kimmel Live! are often available shortly after airing. You can also access various entertainment and news channels through the Xfinity Stream app or portal for more viewing choices.

Jimmy Kimmel Ratings Over The Years Have Fallen
So its no surprise that Jimmy Kimmel ratings have dropped. During second quarter, he averaged 1.77 million total viewers (his strength has always been 18-49s). Thats down quite a bit from 2015, when Colbert joined the late-night lineup and Nielsen says Kimmel averaged 2.4 million total viewers.
But again, every show is down since then. And there are many different ways to spin those numbers, as headlines from all manner of politically affiliated media have done since Kimmels suspension. You can look at second quarter and say he was up or look at the long game and say he was down.
