As I was saying.....

I just watching Peter White, an entertainment reporter on MSNBC, and he had a great idea for Jimmy Kimmel's return tonight. He reminded the viewers that Jack Paar was once suspended for a risque joke he told in the sixties.

When he came back after his suspension, he began his monologue with "As I was saying...."

Great idea! No apologies, not back and forth, no change of tone. Just okay, I'm back and I will continue as I have been. Humble boasting in a way. Because in spite of efforts to spin this, make no mistake. WE WON THIS ONE!

Paar's joke was about water closet. Hard to believe he got suspended for that. rsdsharp Sep 2025 #1

Never got a chance to watch Jack Paar show but I was a fan of Carson and did some reading on his predecessor.
