This is why I don't watch Katy Tur

Discussing the budget "negotiations" jus t now, she said the republicans are making a bet that if the government shuts down and they fire all these people, the Dems will get the blame. The guest, David Drucker said "That's a good bet."

Okay then. There is literally no history or logic to support that. The administration is obviously very fearful of this situation and the purpose of the threats they are making is to shield themselves from blame. Hakeen Jeffries has already pointed out that this administration started by firing people (DOGE) and never stopped, so this will just be them doing what they do. Why should Dems be blamed for that?

Of course if the corporate media reported the facts and gave the Dems equal time, the Dems would not be blamed. But Tur, Drucker, and their ilk are determined that that not happen. So we are being treated to narrative setting 101. Just keep repeating that Dems will be blamed. Over and over and over.

So that's what CBS viewers are getting, what a funny human Kennedy is, instead of what an asshole he is. Even Morning Joe calls out Kennedy for his hypocrisy, but not Katy's husband. I wonder if the Trump team reached out to him for positive stores too?

or most cable news for that matter. But I do occasionally tune into other right wing news outlets and I can confirm that they will definitely blame Democrats.

FOX, OANN, Newsmax, AM radio, X, Facebook, Joe Rogan, etc etc etc

Facts are not a high priority for these people.

6. I have several wealthy republican friends who, while

supporting trump for the party, blame the dems for trump. They complain the dems offered no alternative.
Psychologically, they are bereft of self examination.
They remained pleased with the power of their party.

7. I heard a version of this rationale from a family member during Trump's first reign.

He's a lifelong republican. He said that his Repub friends weren't happy with Trump, but they ignore it because their stock portfolio was doing well.

this is them tryng to make excuses for supporting such a shitty person and to take blame away from themselves.

But they had many other choices during the Primary and they chose him.

11. Denial. They all have lived transactional lives and

became wealthy. Two of them were C students in college and have complained that you smart people have screwed things up. The resentment is palpable.
The three of them are quite philanthropic, but choose their benefactors and feel that is better than the tax system that is beyond their control.
They are college chums and I choose not to break the friendship of over 50 years.
We are frank and I can use them as stereotypes in my arguments.
It matters not. They are business men with the big eats little mantra as a guide.
They have made the commitment to their world view and it works for them.
My philosophical attempts at allegory are only mellifluous to my ears.

They were living together at one point.
And if the story is right, she is estranged from her father (an LA helicopter reporter) since he came out as trans. Makes me like her even less.
