Trump briefed on LDS church shooting
From CNN's Sara Smart and Maureen Chowdhury
President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that he has been briefed on the horrendous shooting that took place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Grand Blanc, Michigan.
The FBI was immediately on scene, and will be leading the Federal Investigation, and providing full support to State and Local Officials. The suspect is dead, but there is still a lot to learn, the president wrote.
This appears to be yet another targeted attack on Christians in the United States of America. The Trump Administration will keep the Public posted, as we always do. In the meantime, PRAY for the victims, and their families. THIS EPIDEMIC OF VIOLENCE IN OUR COUNTRY MUST END, IMMEDIATELY! Trump added.

(2,249 posts)but if the pic I saw of the vehicle that drove into the church is real, it's a truck with 2 full-sized American flags in the bed.

(2,755 posts)It's not like they throw a dart at a wall map and pick the nearest church. If they know nothing about a particular church or religion, then that church or religion would not be a target. In other words, the call is coming from inside the house.

(131,241 posts)IIRC, there was a particularly deadly incident in TX a few years back where the shooter, who had a history of violent behavior, killed a number of people but specifically targeted his mother-in-law.

(5,554 posts)Someone set the Catholic School on fire at the end of my 5th grade year. Luckily no one was hurt, because it was after school had let out for the day, but there was band practice going on. Some of my friends were in the locker room, chaging their uniforms when they smelled smoke. I had a doctor's appointment that day, or I would have been there too.
The fire department determined it was arson, and they announced a few days later that they had found the perpetrator, but they never released the name. So likely it was a student or a past student who did it. Also likely it was a child of wealthy church donors, the way it was hushed up.
Given that a number of the teachers were often cruel, we all figured it was someone, who went over the edge because of something done to them. I was really upset because one of my friends or the fireman could have been hurt. It wasn't their fault we had some mean teachers.
We had to have classes in quickly assembled temporary classrooms the following year, in the gym as some of the rooms in the older section burned and had to be repaired. The smell of smoke lingered for a couple of years.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
